through any Clearing Office that may be established in respect of British nationals in the Colonies against Germany with a view to securing collection of the amount out of German assets situate overseas. The Enemy Clearing Office in London state that they are unable to deal with the claim by reason of the fact that the "Nile* belongs to an American Company . We would point out, however, that the casualty from which the claim arose took place in January 1913 and the amount of the claim, when recovered, will belong to the British registered Company The Nile Steamship Co. Ltd. This Company was struck off the Register on 30th October 1919 as they had ceased to carry on active business, but we understand that there would be little difficulty in restoring the name of the Company to the Register in Hong Kong on shewing a due cause such as the recovery of claims previously written
off.
We shall be much obliged if you will kindly furnish us with any forms it may be necessary to fill up, or instruct us what steps should be taken to have the claim submitted in the proper quarter.
Yours faithfully,
